Crisis Plan (Parts 1,2,3)

Students will find a sample crisis plan. You may use a school districts specific plan or there are several posted online through government (federal and state) websites. Using this sample plan, you will reflect on how well they cover each of the following areas: Section I – Prevention (33% of overall project grade) Does your plan include these areas? If so, how well are they defined? Could you carry out the plan just by reading the plan? If these sections are missing, what could the results be if a true crisis were to occur? • Specific staff that will be trained to lead implementation of the system • How the entire staff, including non-instructional personnel will be trained • How the program will be introduced to students and family members • The specifics of the program (this should include but is not limited to assemblies; workshops; weekly or monthly activities; student, teacher and family involvement, and use of outside resources) • How the program will be monitored for effectiveness and to determine if change is needed Section II – Responding to Crisis (33% of overall project grade) Does your plan include these areas? If so, how well are they defined? Could you carry out the plan just by reading the plan? If these sections are missing, what could the results be if a true crisis were to occur? • Fire • Intruder to the school building • Evacuation of the school grounds • Death of a student, faculty member, or prominent community member • Medical emergency • Follow the same guidelines for completing Section I.
